Thomas Mohr.

Technical Project Lead / Engineering Lead

Technical Project Lead and hands-on engineer with eight years of experience delivering data-intensive products, real-time aviation systems, customer-facing platforms, and developer infrastructure. I lead distributed teams, translate stakeholder goals into achievable technical scope, and remain close enough to the code and operations to remove delivery risks directly.

My background spans DataOps, GitOps, DevOps, web development, Apache Camel-based integration, complex event processing, databases, and platform engineering. I am particularly effective where product ownership, architecture, customer communication, and hands-on implementation meet. I am available immediately for a permanent role, prefer on-site work in the Frankfurt region and am open to hybrid arrangements.

Sep 2023 – Feb 2026

Project Owner (80%) / Software Developer (20%)

Audiomatik GmbH / TuneSat GmbH and Audiogroup

Mainz and Frankfurt am Main, Germany · Primarily remote with regular on-site collaboration

Owned the delivery of Loader, a cross-platform application that gives customers one place to download, install, update, and restore sound-library purchases from BOOM Library and A Sound Effect, while providing hands-on engineering and DataOps support across Audiogroup companies.

  • Led a distributed team of 3–5 developers in Germany and Portugal, working in English and facilitating sprint planning, reviews, daily coordination, scope management, and delivery against changing shareholder priorities.
  • Brought Loader to public launch for BOOM Library and A Sound Effect, reaching approximately 10,000 users, guiding a six-month migration from the previous BOOM Loader, and substantially reducing download and support effort.
  • Built the Loader administration portal with TypeScript, Vue, and Vuetify, with Vitest and Playwright for automated quality assurance; tested the C++ desktop client and validated product behavior and design scope.
  • Collaborated on backend and security architecture spanning ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, PostgreSQL, REST and GraphQL APIs, OAuth/OIDC, and Keycloak.
  • Operated delivery infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Argo CD, Jenkins, and SOPS; implemented observability and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and Tempo; used Hetzner and Gcore object storage plus Gcore CDN.
  • Built TuneSat ingestion and aggregation workflows for large music-rights claim files from organizations including GEMA and Sony Music, using MongoDB and scheduled stored procedures.
  • Helped deliver an 80+ TB music-catalog classification platform on Ubuntu in Hetzner Cloud with resilient local and object storage, Bash-based DataOps pipelines, Milvus, MySQL, external-user access controls, and Python data-processing support.
  • Integrated A Sound Effect and BOOM Library catalogs with Audiomatik, optimized their object-storage and CDN delivery, and supported BOOM Library's WordPress commerce and content-release workflows.

Data Engineer / Technical Project Lead

datatactics GmbH

Frankfurt am Main, Germany · Hybrid

Led and developed customer-facing aviation DataOps products, combining real-time data engineering, web development, platform operations, incident response, and technical project delivery.

  • Served as hands-on technical/project lead for Lufthansa's Fuel and Leg Twin (FLT), the central data pipeline for Lufthansa Group airlines, processing more than one million flights per year and approximately three million Type B messages per day in 24/7 operations.
  • Led 3–5 developers while coordinating technical teams across Lufthansa organizations and maintaining a direct call-line with Lufthansa fuel managers; owned customer meetings, mentoring, parser and pipeline development, database work, React UI changes, deployments, and incident response.
  • Maintained the aviation-security reliability clearance (Zuverlässigkeitsüberprüfung) under § 7 LuftSiG and used RSA SecurID for secure access to customer server environments.
  • Consolidated operational data across fuel, baggage, weight and balance, loading, flight operations, movements, passenger handling, cargo, air traffic control, navigation, maintenance, and logistics systems.
  • Developed and operated Rahla, a central Apache Camel-based integration and DataOps platform, using Groovy and SiddhiQL for real-time data flows; worked across Oracle Database, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch, with Apache Superset for analytics dashboards and React, TypeScript, and Mantine UI for web interfaces.
  • Built and operated on-premises delivery workflows with Docker, Kubernetes, Kustomize, Jenkins, and Argo CD, including pipeline code, automated tests and builds, image publishing, environment deployments, and GitOps configuration.
  • Built a web-based live tanker-fleet tracking system for the German Air Force using operational position messages, deck.gl geospatial visualization, and persistent storage; advised Berlin Brandenburg Airport on automated Schengen/non-Schengen gate-traversal monitoring using airline and DataOps expertise.
  • Recruited, onboarded, and mentored interns using internal data products; improved local development, databases, and web-development practices across the team.
  • Applied pytest, SonarQube, Postman, and manual integration testing; used pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and Flask for offline computation and supporting data services.

Mar 2018 – Dec 2020

Technical Project Lead / DataOps Engineer / Junior Developer

Intelligent Data Analytics GmbH & Co. KG (iDA)

Marburg and Frankfurt am Main, Germany · Customer-facing hybrid role with regular travel

Progressed from Junior Developer to DataOps Engineer and Technical Project Lead, delivering real-time data products for aviation, telecommunications, industrial, and compliance use cases.

  • Progressed through Junior Developer (Mar–Aug 2018), DataOps Engineer (Sep 2018–Aug 2019), and Technical Project Lead (Sep 2018–Dec 2020).
  • Led FuelDWH, the predecessor of FLT, for Lufthansa with a team ranging from 2–10 developers; evolved the delivery cadence from daily releases to stable weekly/monthly updates while maintaining direct contact multiple times per day with Lufthansa fuel managers and regular coordination with Lufthansa Technik.
  • Completed the aviation-security reliability clearance (Zuverlässigkeitsüberprüfung) under § 7 LuftSiG for Lufthansa work and used RSA SecurID for secure access to customer server environments.
  • Customer satisfaction and continuity under my leadership contributed to FuelDWH moving with me to datatactics, where it evolved into FLT.
  • Developed with the in-house Moira DataOps platform and MoiraQL; became the primary user, tester, and trainer for MonoQL, shaped its requirements, and contributed to its Java/ANTLR implementation for CSV and JSON processing.
  • Delivered Oracle Database 12c-backed services via Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins, and supported production operations alongside Lufthansa Technik.
  • Worked for approximately two years on reducing duplicate Type B aviation messages for Aeroflot, including on-site collaboration with Aeroflot developers in Moscow in 2018 and 2019.
  • Developed early machine-learning work for Deutsche Telekom, used R to optimize temperature flows for a SAMSON combined heat and power plant, and contributed to early FuelDWH development.
  • During the COVID-19 downturn, helped acquire and deliver new work, including briefly evaluating Splunk for project validation and contributing to an OSINT platform developed in cooperation with the Bundesamt für Justiz (BfJ) that scraped and filtered public social-media content for potential NetzDG violations for validation by interns and lawyers.
